Question 4 – How did you use media technologies in the construct,
research and planning and evaluation stages?
The Video:
The camera we used when filming our music video and also
taking some still shots was a Nikon d5200 DSLR, this enabled us to have clear
and high quality coloured footage which is what we wanted when filming so we
could do whatever we wanted to when it came to the editing part. This made the
editing easier as the clips were of better quality so needed less editing to
make them look professional.
We also used a Manfrotto tripod in order to stand the camera
on securely. It enabled us to take stable shots throughout all of our locations
and also enabled us to have all 4 of us in the shot at one time. It also made
the cloning effect easier as we could keep the camera in exactly the same place
so the cloning effect was of better quality and looked more effective.
Another Adobe software we used was the After Effects. We
used this to create the hand drawing effect on Annabel in the video. This is
something that we always intended to use in our video and practised beforehand.
The Website:
The most important media technology we used for the website
was WIX. We used WIX to create the majority of our website just from a
template. We used a simple template as we knew we was going to add the GIF
background and it would make the website look simple but effective which we
wanted to portray throughout all of our media products.
We also used the DSLR camera once again in making the
website as we used the short videos and images in order to create the GIF
background for our website. This made the website look different and very
striking.
Also to create the GIF and also some other still images we
used an IPhone camera. As we just saw things which we liked and wanted to
capture but didn’t have the DSLR on us, we instead took a photo with an IPhone
instead.
Finally to actually create our GIF background we used
Windows movie maker. We used this software instead of GIFFY because the quality
was better on movie maker we found. So we used it to shorten our clips, speed
them up and create the GIF.
The Record
We also used the internet to find the right dimensions for
actually making the album with the folding tabs and the size to fit a vinyl in.
We found this information on a blog which made it a lot easier to create our
vinyl. We also got the barcode off the internet which made our record look more
feasible.
The software we actually used to create and put our album
together was Serif Draw. The pencil tool was used in order to draw the foreigner’s
logo which was commonly used throughout our products. We also used Serif Draw
for the font on our album which again we used throughout all of our products as
we wanted to keep the retro theme through all of our work. Additionally on the
back of the album we included a polaroid style photograph which we made in
Serif Draw by overlaying a white rectangle shape with the photo we wanted to
put on.
Additionally we did use Adobe to import our album in the
last stages before manually putting it together. We imported it so it could get
printed to size which made our record look more realistic.
